Members of the public donated toys and gifts via collection points in local supermarkets across the county, helping to ensure that children who may otherwise miss out can still experience the joy of opening presents on Christmas Day.
The county-wide collection was co-ordinated by Muff Murfin, who gathered the donations and delivered them to Worcestershire County Council offices this week. The toys will now be distributed by County Council social workers and support workers to families who may need a little extra help at this time of year.
The delivery was received on behalf of Worcestershire County Council by Councillor Justin Bowen and Councillor Rob Wharton.
Muff Murfin from Radio Wyvern said: "Kids would simply go without presents if it wasn't for the kind generosity of the Worcestershire people. The support from our local communities has been incredible, and it's heart-warming to know these donations will make such a difference to children across the county this Christmas."
Councillor Justin Bowen, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Worcestershire County Council, added: "I'd like to say a huge thank you to the Worcestershire community for their generosity, and to Radio Wyvern for organising this fantastic collection. These donations will be of great benefit to lots of families across the county. I also want to thank our dedicated staff who will be working hard to make sure the toys reach the children that need them."
