Escambia County Waives Fees for Hurricane Isaias-Related Damage Repairs

Escambia County has temporarily waived fees for repairs related to Hurricane Isaias damages, which includes application and inspection fees for permits, land use approvals, and development orders necessary for Hurricane Isaias disaster recovery.

The Board of County Commissioners waived the fees for the public through an Emergency Order, recognizing that the ongoing economic effects of Hurricane Isaias create uncertainty for the personal and business interests of the citizens of Escambia County.

Note: The Emergency Order only applies to permit and inspection fees related to Hurricane Isaias damage. Permits are still required as usual, and the Emergency Order does not change any other permitting procedures and requirements.

The waived fees will be in effect until further notice, and include the following:

  • Building Permits
  • Land Use Approvals (including fence permits, construction in county right-of-way permits, driveway construction in county right-of-way permits, commercial sign permits, and permits for the use of recreational vehicles as temporary disaster recovery housing)
  • Development Orders

All applicants will be required to present evidence to Escambia County that the permit, land use approval, or development order is necessary to repair or replace structures damaged by Hurricane Isaias. Evidence submitted by the applicant may include photographs or videos of storm damage, copies of insurance claims, or other documentation as deemed appropriate by the county.
