GeoPark statement on Oilprice article

On July 30, 2025, the OilPrice news portal published an article mentioning GeoPark subsidiary Amerisur. As part of its commitment to transparency, GeoPark makes the following clarifications and provides additional context on allegations made in the article:

The event of November 24, 2024 at Pad 9 of the Platanillo block consisted of an accidental release of very small amount of spray from a flare, something clearly distinct from an oil spill through neither generating runoff nor contaminating bodies of water. The incident was immediately contained, did not present any risk to nearby water sources, and was managed under the direct supervision of the Colombian environmental authority. No environmental sanctions were made in connection with the event. The Company promptly issued a press release informing about the incident (see here ).

In relation to the licensing process of the PUT-8 block, GeoPark and all its subsidiaries, including Amerisur, categorically reject any allegation of links with illegal armed groups. GeoPark has no connection to any illegal armed group and requires the same of its contractors and suppliers. All Company operations are carried out in strict compliance with Colombian law and the Company's Human Rights Policy, reflecting total commitment to respecting the human rights of all its stakeholders.

It should be noted that the accusation as serious as the one made by the article is not backed by any evidence or process. The Company unequivocally distances itself from any illegal organization.

Contrary to what the article states, the Company complied with all legal requirements in the licensing process for the PUT-8 block, including requesting certification from the Ministry of the Interior's Prior Consultation Department that prior consultation was not required since no presence of the Siona Buenavista community or any other ethnic community had been identified in the project area.

The article to which this statement refers describes a June 2015 incident in which illegal armed groups intercepted road tankers transporting crude oil for Ecopetrol and Amerisur and proceeded to intimidate the drivers to force them to discharge oil on the road and into nearby bodies of water. It is public information that this was a terrorist act. Nonetheless, once the National Army secured the area, Amerisur and the transport companies diligently activated contingency plans. Mitigation, cleanup and remediation work was implemented under the strict supervision of the Colombian environmental authority until the case was the formally closed, in full compliance with all regulations effective at the time.

In response to the unfounded accusations contained in the OilPrice article, GeoPark and Amerisur underscore their commitment to operate responsibly and transparently, respecting the law and human rights. GeoPark will continue to provide accurate information to its stakeholders and to the public, using facts to demonstrate that energy development and sustainability can go hand in hand.
