CASE: Kristina Huemann Siedlecki (Case #24FE020329)
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Dina Mielke, Homicide Unit
On October 1, 2026, Kristina Huemann Siedlecki was convicted by a jury of the second-degree murder of her 8-moth-old baby, Jannah.
The defendant's husband placed Jannah in a bath with dangerously hot water, causing severe burns over more than 30 percent of her body. When Jannah's mother, Kristina Huemann Siedlecki, arrived home the baby was still in the bathtub. Siedlecki saw Jannah's skin turn red, then peel and blister. The burns extended from Jannah's mid-back across her buttocks and genital area, and down the backs of her legs to her heels. Despite the extent of Jannah's injuries, neither parent sought medical attention in the days that followed. Jannah ultimately died from complications related to those burns. Internet searches on Siedlecki's phone showed she understood the danger of not treating Jannah's injuries but avoided seeking help because she feared being arrested. On the morning of Jannah's death, Siedlecki noticed Jannah's breathing had changed, and she had become limp before becoming unresponsive. Instead of calling 911, Siedlecki went on social media while her husband contacted a friend for help nearly 45 minutes later. Siedlecki's failure to obtain medical care resulted in the death of her child. The father was also charged but has since passed away.
Siedlecki faces a maximum sentence of 15 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for October 23, 2026, at 9 AM in Department 15C before the Honorable Alyson Lewis.
