Overnight M-25 Veterans Memorial Bridge test openings in Bay City March 26 - 27

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will perform intermittent test openings of the bascule portion of the M-25 Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Saginaw River in Bay City.

Test openings will begin at 9 p.m. on March 26 and will last for approximately 15 minutes each through the morning of March 27. The bridge will open and close multiple times throughout the night to allow for testing to take place.

Test openings will occur during the overnight hours to minimize impacts on traffic with the ongoing closure of the nearby Lafayette Avenue bridge.

These test openings are being done as crews wrap up work on a $1.6 million investment to maintain and improve the bridge while ensuring its continued safe and reliable operation. Work began on these improvements in December 2025 and is scheduled to be completed by March 31.
