UNM Staff Council hosts annual Staff Appreciation Cookout May 20

The University of New Mexico Staff Council is inviting staff to its annual Staff Appreciation Cookout on Wednesday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Mesa Vista Courtyard, Cornell Mall and Union Square on UNM's Main Campus.

The event is part of an ongoing tradition recognizing the contributions of UNM staff across departments. This year's cookout will include expanded food options, entertainment and opportunities for staff to connect with colleagues and university leadership.

Attendees can enjoy a green chile cheeseburger or veggie burger, with additional food lines added this year to help reduce wait times.

A live DJ will provide music from noon to 1 p.m., and the annual Lobo family group photo is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Staff are encouraged to wear their favorite UNM apparel.

"Staff are the backbone of the university, and this event is one of the ways we show our appreciation," said Grace Faustino, event coordinator and Staff Council representative.

The event will also include prize drawings every 15 minutes, including a grand prize of one year of free parking for a current permit holder. Additional highlights include a "Staff as Artists" showcase featuring creative work from staff members and opportunities to connect with university leadership and New Mexico state legislators.

Free parking will be available for those attending. Staff members who need accommodations can contact Marcus Anderson at [email protected].
