Mobile, Ala. - The City of Mobile is asking residents to donate their time and share their talents with teens as part of our Harmon CARES (Community Access, Resources, Education and Support) Summer Program. This new program is a partnership between the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department and the Public Safety Department's Office of Prevention and Mitigation.

Held at the Harmon-Thomas Community Center located at 1611 Belfast Street; Harmon CARES invites community members and local businesses to spend a minimum of one hour helping to mentor and educate local teens on topics they have expertise in. Anyone willing to give their time and talents is welcome.

Through hands-on activities, mentorship, demonstrations, workshops, and future career exposure, the Harmon CARES program aims to provide local youth with meaningful experiences that encourage growth, confidence, and decision-making skills. Participants from a variety of careers are invited to sign up, including: artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, pastors, barbers, chefs, and many more.

"Harmon CARES allows teens in our city the opportunity to learn valuable life lessons, hear about various careers or learn a skill in a safe, supervised environment throughout the summer," Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said. "We are asking educators, community leaders, tradesman and anyone else with a passion for what they do to give their time and talent. Just one hour can help change lives."

The program will run on weekdays starting June 8 and run through July 24 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harmon-Thomas Community Center. Those interested in volunteering for the program can sign up at the following link: https://s.alchemer.com/s3/Harmon-CARES-Volunteer-Interest-Form.
