A man suspected of burglarizing three vehicles and attempting to burglarize ten others in Nissan Stadium's Lot T on the morning of January 6th is now jailed in lieu of $172,000 bond on multiple criminal counts.
An individual subsequently identified as Lonnie Ridley, 26, arrived in Lot T, an area where construction workers park, at 9:50 a.m. on January 6 driving a white Nissan Altima. Ridley got out and is seen on surveillance footage pulling on the door handles of multiple vehicles. He successfully got into one, removed a tire tool from it, and used that tool to smash the windows of two other vehicles. A purse and money were among the items stolen.
After being in the lot for ten minutes, Ridley left. After the reported burglaries, Central Precinct Officer Clayton Lewis was able to piece together surveillance footage from Lot T and street cameras allowing him to track the Altima to S. 7th Street where Ridley entered an apartment. There were multiple camera views of Ridley's face, which led to his identification. Arrest warrants naming him were issued on January 8.
Wednesday night, officers responded to a reported burglary at a vacant home on 11th Avenue North. Ridley was inside. He complied with commands to exit, then resisted officers and asked them to let him run. He didn't get the chance and was taken to booking on three counts of vehicle burglary, ten counts of attempted vehicle burglary, aggravated criminal trespassing, resisting, and driving on a suspended license.
At the time of his arrest Wednesday night, Ridley was free on bond related to arrests last November for attempted aggravated burglary and theft.
