Krishnamoorthi Delivers $250,000 to Build Safer Fox River Trail Segment, Improve Riverfront Access in Batavia

BATAVIA, Illinois - Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi today joined Batavia Mayor Jeffery Schielke and local leaders to present $250,000 in federal Community Project Funding he secured to help build a new, dedicated segment of the Fox River Regional Trail, improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists while expanding access to the Fox River.

The new segment will run along the west side of the Fox River between the river and Batavia's wastewater treatment facility, replacing a section where trail users can be routed off the dedicated path and alongside the roadway. The project will add new safety and guidance features, improve connectivity along the regional trail, and provide better access to and views of the riverfront. The Fox River Trail stretches from Oswego to Algonquin and serves more than 100,000 Fox Valley residents.

"More than 100,000 people across the Fox Valley use the Fox River Trail, and they deserve a safe, reliable route. I'm proud to have secured $250,000 to help Batavia build this new dedicated trail segment, improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, and make it easier for families to enjoy the Fox River," said Congressman Krishnamoorthi.
