Operational note: Temporary Road Closure, A970 Gremista Junction, Lerwick

There will be a road closure this weekend on the A970 in Lerwick for overnight works to install a new water main.

The road will be closed to all through traffic by the Gremista Junction to the north of Lerwick between the hours of 6.30pm on Saturday 27th September until 8.00am the next day. Contractors will complete the work overnight and the road is expected to reopen again to traffic on Sunday morning.

The alternative route for traffic during the period of closure is via Gremista Brae and Ladies Drive in Lerwick.

Shetland Islands Council has put in place a Temporary Notice (TN09/2025) under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
