Lisa Friedman is our new business and economics correspondent in London focusing on energy in Europe and the Middle East.
Lisa joins Business from Climate in Washington. She joined The Times in 2017 and wrote extensively about climate change policy, its shifts between presidential administrations and its impact on communities across the United States. She has covered 13 United Nations climate summits. She was part of the team that was a Pulitzer finalist in 2020 for coverage of the war on science during the first Trump administration.
She has been on the climate beat for nearly two decades. Before The Times, she worked for Climatewire, an energy policy publication in D.C. Lisa was the international reporter, deputy editor and then editor. She reported on climate migration from Bangladesh and on China's greenhouse gas emissions from the bottom of a coal mine in Datong.
Lisa got her start in journalism as an intern at The North Jersey Herald & News in Passaic, writing obits and following reporters to car crashes and city council meetings. She worked as a police reporter for The Las Vegas Review Journal and started a prison beat for The Bakersfield Californian. From Washington, she covered Congress for The Oakland Tribune and later The Los Angeles Daily News. Lisa holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia University and almost has a master's in journalism from the University of Maryland. Someday, she might finish that thesis.
Please welcome Jenny and Lisa.
