Lancaster, CA. August 21, 2025 - With temperatures expected to reach between 102 and 110°F through the weekend, the City of Lancaster is expanding its Cooling Center operations to provide additional relief for residents.
In anticipation of Sunday, August 24-the hottest day of the heatwave-the City will open an augmented Cooling Center at the Museum of Art & History (MOAH)'s Lantern Room from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This temporary activation supplements the existing Cooling Centers available throughout Lancaster.
The City has partnered with LA County, LASD, LPD, and nonprofit organizations to ensure water distribution and outreach to at-risk residents continue throughout the weekend.
Public Cooling Centers are open and available to all at the Lancaster Library, George Lane Park, Antelope Valley Senior Center, and Quartz Hill Library. In addition, the MOAH Lantern Room will serve as a Cooling Center on Sunday only, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Full details can be found at: https://www.cityoflancasterca.org/services/cooling-centers.
