Paula Chesser was selected as the Firelands Health Beacon of Light for the second quarter of 2026. Paula is a charge nurse on the 3T medical-surgical unit at Firelands.
The Firelands Beacon of Light is a program designed to recognize team members who exemplify Firelands Health's values through exceptional attitude, commitment and enthusiasm (ACE). The award goes to individuals who ACE it every day for patients and co-workers.
Paula's nomination shows her dedication. "Paula has an ACE attitude toward patients, visitors, and employees and is always willing to help. Paula does not call off. She also volunteers to work extra shifts to ensure the unit isn't short-staffed. Paula automatically makes you feel comfortable when you're working with her, whether in person or on the phone. She has a soothing voice that can calm anyone down," the nomination read. "Paula is a true leader, the person everyone on our floor goes to with questions. She is an amazing nurse, and we should all be grateful to have her as a co-worker."
Paula resides in Sandusky and has worked at Firelands for 32 years. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and reading books.
