Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on Trump Inauguration and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
LINCOLN, NE - The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb issues the following statement regarding the inauguration of President-elect Trump and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service next Monday.
Knowing many newsrooms are writing stories in advance of the busy day on Monday, we are releasing our statement today to assist your planning and reporting:
"As the country transitions to the Trump Administration, Americans will experience the consequences from his first day in office as he has pledged to sign multiple executive orders that will affect everything from immigration to agriculture and energy. His campaign was built around fear, misinformation, and retribution. We expect his second term to up the ante and prove that he will be the most divisive president in our lifetimes.
While the inauguration of President Trump will be on center stage, we encourage Nebraskans and all Americans to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and give their time and energy to something productive and positive to better their community. Volunteering at a food pantry or community center is a great way to acknowledge the work of Dr. King and allows us to come together for a common good."
