AAJ Statement Opposing the Clarity Act

Bill Advanced Through Senate Committee Would Put Consumers' Hard-Earned Savings at Risk

May 14,2026
WASHINGTON, DC-American Association for Justice (AAJ) CEO Linda Lipsen issued the following statement after the Senate Banking Committee advanced the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act:
"The Clarity Act passed by the Senate Banking Committee today entirely fails to protect investors, consumers, and the stability of U.S. capital markets. Despite broad and strong opposition from consumer protection and organized labor organizations, as well as state regulators and law enforcement groups, Senators advanced a bill that would strip consumers and investors of critical rights. We can promote innovation without putting workers' hard-earned savings at risk-but the Clarity Act fundamentally misses the mark. I urge every Senator to oppose this measure on the floor."
