WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) today voted to support President Trump's nominations of Doug Burgum to be Secretary of the Interior and Chris Wright to be Secretary of Energy in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
"President Trump chose the right people to lead our energy and public land policy: Doug Burgum and Chris Wright. I am impressed with their commitment to keep energy affordable and reliable, reduce regulatory hurdles toutilize our natural resources, and listen to the expertise of people in states like Idaho," said Risch. "I was proud to support their nominations through the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and look forward to their swift confirmation as Secretaries of the Interior and Energy Departments."
During their confirmation hearings last week, Risch emphasized the importance of nuclear energy and the proper use of our public lands. Risch discussed his efforts to end the Lava Ridge Wind Energy project, including his role in writing the Executive Order signed by President Trump on day one to end the disastrous wind project.
The nominations will now go before the full U.S. Senate for approval.
