A familiar face at University of St. Thomas-Houston, newly appointed Board Chair, Dr. Craig Jarchow has served on UST's Board of Directors since 2019 and is the current chair for its ongoing capital campaign. He is eager to lead the Board at a time when opportunities abound for UST.
"I am delighted to accept the role of Board chair for University of St. Thomas," Dr. Jarchow said. "UST has many outstanding opportunities ahead with the upcoming announcement of a new president, preparing to break ground for a new residence hall which has generated tremendous philanthropic support, and anticipation growing as we welcome our newest class of students. This is an exciting moment in UST's history. I am grateful to serve the Board of Directors and this impressive, wonderfully Catholic community."
Most recently, Dr. Jarchow chaired the Board's Academic Affairs Committee and served on the Audit and Finance and Development committees. He is a member of the Order of Malta and the current President of the Board of Directors of the Alley Theatre, where he led the search committee for their new managing director.
He and his wife Angela are excited to deepen their roots at UST and their daughter, Megan, worked at UST as a Purchasing Administrator for five years until 2021.
"I have seen the vibrancy of this campus firsthand, and it is infectious," Dr. Jarchow said. "The Catholic mission is core and seeing how connected philanthropists are to this mission has been a real privilege. I hope we continue to develop this elite, Catholic institution of higher education to continue to stand out in Houston and beyond."
Dr. Jarchow has more than 30 years of energy industry experience, serving in upstream operational roles, advising financial services firms on energy-focused investments and building and leading an operating company. He is currently President, CEO and director of TG Natural Resources, LLC, a natural gas focused company operating upstream and midstream assets in East Texas. Previously, Dr. Jarchow served as President, Upstream of Castleton Commodities International and as a Managing Director and Partner of Pine Brook Road Partners, LLC and First Reserve Corporation, sourcing and advising on energy transactions.
Dr. Jarchow's educational experience includes a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Master of Science and Doctorate in Geophysics from Stanford and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
"While I look forward to my upcoming tenure as Board chair, I would be remiss if I did not mention the excellent guidance and efforts of our outgoing Board Chair, Bob Corrigan," Dr. Jarchow said. "He led the Board with ease and intentionality. I am honored to continue the great work that the Board began under his leadership."
UST bids farewell to outgoing friend and Board Chair, Robert F. Corrigan Jr., J.D. Corrigan fostered a wonderful career of leadership service to UST contributing as chair of the Board's Academic Affairs Committee, serving as Board vice chair from 2019-2023, and his term as Board chair from 2023-2025.
Corrigan was attracted to USTbecause of its astute focus on its mission, which he championed through several key accomplishments during his tenure:
Dr. Jarchow will begin his term on July 1, 2025. Dr. Jarchow said he cannot wait to begin.
"Leading the Board of Directors means I am ready for the challenge of serving," Dr. Jarchow said. "With a grounding in faith and reason, and an exceptional expression of Catholic intellectual and spiritual traditions, I look forward to serving University of St. Thomas as we help students realize the future that God has meant for each of them, making decisions as a Board that will continue the upward trajectory of this University."
