Prime Minister Fiala received the new US Ambassador Nicholas Merrick

On Wednesday, 12 November 2025, outgoing Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America Nicholas Merrick at the Straka Academy. Together they confirmed the excellent level of Czech-American relations and discussed the possibilities of their further development and security issues.

The Prime Minister emphasised that relations between the Czech Republic and the United States of America are excellent, and that we are linked not only by our common history, but also by intensive cooperation in the fields of security, defence and many others. The strategic partnership between our countries remains one of the key pillars of our foreign policy. "The United States is a very important ally with which we have strong ties. We discussed Czech-American relations and security issues. I wished the Ambassador success in his new role," said the Prime Minister.
