School for the Digital Future launches ‘digital passport’ experience for students

The School for the Digital Future is launching ARTSCI 297/497: The Digital Passport - Exploring Emerging Technology and Innovation, a one-credit course available to all Boise State students. The course begins spring 2026 and introduces students to the evolving world of digital creativity, technology and innovation by combining in-person and online experiences throughout the semester. The course can be completed fully online or fully in person, depending on student needs and preferred learning modality.

Students will attend and engage with at least seven events, workshops or experiences, such as hackathons, virtual exhibitions, tech talks, webinars, VR events, eSports tournaments, game design showcases or extended reality labs. The course emphasizes experiential learning and reflection, asking students to explore emerging technologies first-hand and then critically analyze and write about their experiences.

Students will strengthen their digital literacy, curiosity and reflective thinking, describe diverse forms of digital expression and innovation, explore connections between technology, creativity and society, and practice navigating new digital spaces and learning tools.

The course is listed as ARTSCI 297/497: The Digital Passport: Exploring Emerging Technology and Innovation. Students can contact the School for the Digital Future or their academic advisor for more information.
