On March 18, 2026, H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with Mrs Kirsty Coventry, President of the International Olympic Committee.

Ambassador Jia Guide said that I would like to extend my congratulations to you and the International Olympic Committee on the successful hosting of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Given that the current international landscape is marked by intertwined changes and turmoil, we need more than ever to harness the unique power of sports to foster friendship and promote unity. China stands ready to deepen the high-level cooperation with the International Olympic Committee to promote world peace and development and advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

President Coventry welcomed Ambassador Jia's assumption of office, and congratulated the success of the Chinese delegation at the 2026 Winter Olympics. She noted that the International Olympic Committee highly values China's contributions to the development of the Olympic Movement, and expressed the willingness to explore further opportunities for cooperation with China and to jointly leverage the power of sport to promote unity and peace.
