CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Governor Patrick Morrisey today announced the hiring of Eric B. Hudnall as Deputy General Counsel and Ryan A. McCoy as the Special Assistant to the General Counsel.

Eric Hudnall is a life-long public servant with deep expertise in legal research, statutory interpretation, and judicial reasoning. Previously, he served as a Staff Attorney for Justice John Hutchison on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and held the same role for the late Justice Tim Armstead. Before his work for the Supreme Court of Appeals, Hudnall managed the West Virginia Division of Highways Right of Way program. He also served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Kanawha County Prosecutor's Office before working for two firms in the private sector. Hudnall is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and the West Virginia University College of Law.

Ryan McCoy joins the Office of General Counsel from Public Defender Services, where he was Executive Assistant. Previously, McCoy was Special Assistant in the Office of the West Virginia Attorney General, serving as legislative liaison to the Attorney General, monitoring legislative and governmental affairs, and conducting research. While earning his undergraduate degree from West Virginia State University, McCoy served as a Judith A. Herndon Fellow at the West Virginia Legislature.
