Watch Sugarland Cover Dolly Parton Classic In Backstage Video

Sugarland offered a glimpse of a backstage moment before a recent performance, covering a classic Dolly Parton song in honor of the late legend.

The duo, made up of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, delivered a rendition of "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind," which Parton released in the early '80s. Sugarland stated in their caption on Instagram on Thursday (October 22), "[Country Music Association], We missed your Dolly tribute as we're out on tour, so we wanted to celebrate with you in our own way! Here's a backstage capture of one of our favorite [Dolly Parton] songs, 'Do I Ever Cross Your Mind.' Dolly forever!!"

The Country Music Association hosted CMA Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton, a star-studded, televised tribute special that took place at Belmont University's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville, Tennessee (see the red carpet looks here).

Parton passed away "peacefully" on August 25, an official announcement confirmed. She was 80. Representatives for the beloved "I Will Always Love You" icon said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time, "after bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones." Parton was laid to rest beside her husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025. He was 82.
