Listen to "American Dream" HERE
October 10, 2025 (World Mental Health Day) - Jean-Philippe Rio-Py - known to audiences worldwide as RIOPY - has never approached music as a career, but as a lifeline. The pianist and multi-instrumentalist composer, whose deeply emotive work has surpassed 1.17 billion streams and filled concert halls across Europe, North America and Asia, returns this winter with his most personal offering yet: his fifth album, Be Love, arriving January 16, 2026.
To mark World Mental Health Day today, RIOPY has unveiled "American Dream," a new instrumental single that offers a glimpse into the intimate new chapter of his sound. Built on delicate, cinematic piano - and imbued with quiet resilience - the track hints at the fearless self-discovery that shaped Be Love, an album where the artist, for the first time, also lends his own voice. "Music saved me - it always has," says RIOPY. "This record is about rediscovery, about defying fear and illness, and about choosing love above everything else."
Described as "an evolution of sound - and of self,"Be Love continues the French-born artist's journey from a childhood marked by isolation to global acclaim. Born in rural France and raised in a cult with no formal training, RIOPY taught himself to play on an abandoned piano. He eventually broke free at 18, carving a path from small clubs in England to composing for Oscar-winning films (The Danish Girl, The Shape of Water) and collaborating with artists like Lana Del Rey. His breakthrough came with Tree of Light (2019), which topped the Billboard Classical charts for nearly three years, followed by Bliss (2021) and Thrive (2023). Along the way, his music became a beacon for listeners seeking calm and healing. But Be Love was born from a deeply personal battle: the fight to recover when illness nearly silenced him.
For RIOPY, that struggle sparked a return to singing - a lifelong fear turned necessity - and a bold expansion of his artistry. Recorded on his dream instrument, the Steinway Spirio, and mixed by GRAMMY® winner Oli Jacobs (Peter Gabriel, Lana Del Rey, Van Morrison), the album weaves delicate piano with whispers and chants, balancing survival and transcendence.
The single "American Dream" stays true to RIOPY's cinematic piano roots, a meditative and melodic offering to listeners navigating their own challenges. RIOPY also recently launched a new podcast called Tune Your Mind, an intimate series in which he explores creativity, resilience, and mental health, sharing how music became both his escape from a difficult past and his lifelong tool for healing and focus.
Be Love arrives January 16, 2026 and is available now to pre-save: https://riopy.lnk.to/BeLove .
