Following the City Manager's comprehensive review and recommendation, the Fort Pierce City Commission has unanimously approved David M. Smith, Commander of Eastern District Operations for the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia, as the next Chief of Police for the Fort Pierce Police Department.
City Manager Chess formally presented Commander Smith's selection to the Commission during today's regular meeting. The unanimous vote reflects the City's confidence in his leadership, experience, and dedication to community-centered policing.
Commander Smith brings 24 years of distinguished law enforcement service, including leadership roles as Commander of Eastern District Operations and former Commander of the Personnel Bureau. His extensive background spans patrol operations, personnel management, strategic planning, and community engagement.
