Applications for ERC Plus Grants: Facts and figures

This call is part of the ERC work programme for 2026 with €210 million earmarked for ERC Plus Grants.

The ERC is now starting the evaluation of the proposals. The selected projects are expected to be announced in spring 2027.

The ERC Plus Grant is a new funding scheme for outstanding researchers from Europe and anywhere in the world with bold ideas and a vision for transformative research that goes beyond the scope of existing ERC programmes. The funding for this new scheme was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in her speech of 5 May 2025 at the Sorbonne, as part of on the 'Choose Europe' initiative.
