SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 to discuss replacing the Route 51 bridge over the St. Francis River in Butler County. The meeting will be held at the Fisk Community Center at 508 Garfield St. in Fisk, Missouri.
The project includes replacing this aging structure with a new, wider bridge. The current bridge is 21 feet wide, and the new bridge will be 36 feet wide.
During construction, Route 51 will be closed in the vicinity of the bridge with traffic detouring to use Route DD in Fisk. The Fisk St. Francis River access will remain open, but boat traffic will not be able to travel south during construction.
Tentatively, the project is expected to be let in November 2026. Construction could start as early as the beginning of 2027. Completion is anticipated approximately nine months after the start of construction.
The public meeting will be open-house style, and visitors can stop by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to discuss the details of the project with the project team.
