One Year After Trump Threatened Oregon With Federal Troops, Christine Drazan Still Supports Violent ICE Agenda

Portland, OR - Yesterday marked one year since Donald Trump announced - via social media post - his threat to send federal troops into Portland in response to protests against ICE and his cruel anti-immigrant agenda. His post stated he was "authorizing Full Force, if necessary" to handle "domestic terrorists." That same day, Christine Drazan borrowed Trump's language to refer to protestors as "violent mobs and domestic terrorists."

During the 2026 legislative session, as the Oregon Legislature took on an eight-bill legislative package aimed at defending the state from Trump's dangerous immigration enforcement practices, Drazan was nowhere to be found. Across the eight pieces of legislation, Drazan recorded seven absences and one vote against a bill thatprohibits discrimination in education related to immigration or citizenship status.

When the legislature voted on legislation to prohibit masked ICE agents from acting as secret police, Drazan was nowhere to be found. Drazan also voted againstfourdifferentbills preventing discrimination against individuals based solely on immigration status during her time as a state legislator, further cementing her record as a supporter of Trump's discriminatory actions against immigrant communities.

"When Donald Trump tried to weaponize the United States military against its own citizens, Christine Drazan was cheering him on," said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz. "Her record doesn't lie: Christine Drazan is the pro-ICE, anti-immigrant candidate in this race, and Oregonians are tired of the MAGA anti-immigrant agenda. It was true a year ago, and it is still true today."
