SE 1st Avenue Water Main Interconnection Project

The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with Comtech Engineering to make improvements to the water distribution system near SE 1st Avenue and S. New River Drive E. in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. This project includes:

  • Connecting existing water mains in the area to nearby water mains
  • Upgrading water main connections that cross underneath the New River

Construction will begin on Monday, July 14, and is expected to be completed in October 2025. Work will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Some overnight work between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. may be required to reduce impacts to nearby properties if water service will be affected by planned work. Neighbors will be notified of any potential temporary service interruptions. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic & Parking Impacts:

  • The City of Fort Lauderdale's parking lot at the corner of SE 1st Avenue and S. New River Dr. E. (County Lot I) will be closed throughout construction.
  • S. New River Drive E. between SE 3rd Avenue and SE 1st Avenue will be closed throughout construction.
  • Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area
