Phoenix, Ariz. - The Arizona Corporation Commission voted on 20 matters, including water, telecommunications, electric and railroad items. Highlights from the meeting include:

Utilities

  • Joshua Valley Utility Company
  • Little Park Water Company, Inc. and Big Park Water Company

ACC

  • Election of New Chair and Vice-Chair

Joshua Valley Utility Company (W-02023A-25-0087) The Commission voted unanimously to approve a settlement agreement in the company's rate case. Joshua Valley Utility serves approximately 1,063 customers in the unincorporated community of Meadview, located about 70 miles north of Kingman in Mohave County. For typical residential customers with average usage, monthly bills are expected to increase from approximately $28.44 a month, to approximately $48.69 a month. The previous rates had been established in 2016.

Little Park Water Company , Inc. and Big Park Water Company(W-02192A-25-0040) The Commission voted unanimously to approval the consolidation of the two utility companies, along with a rate increase as a consolidated entity. Little Park serves 112 customers in Yavapai County, between Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek. Big Park serves approximately 3,230 customers and 74 fire-line connections in the Village of Oak Creek.

Commissioners expressed concerns regarding a provision in the settlement agreement pertaining to a customer, with whom the utility agreed to provide visual screening around the equipment yard adjacent to the customer's property. The utility said its goal is to preserve the aesthetics of the customer's property and protect the utility's heavy equipment from view for security purposes. The Commission emphasized costs that only benefit one or a small group of customers should not be passed on to ratepayers, instead covered by the Utility and/or affected customer(s).

ACC Election of New Chair and Vice-Chair: The Commission voted Commissioner Nick Myers as the new Chair and Commissioner Rachel Walden as the new Vice-Chair of the ACC. Both will serve one-year terms from January 14, 2026 - January 12, 2027. Executive Director Doug Clark presented outgoing Chair Kevin Thompson with a congratulatory plaque for his service.

"As Chair, my primary goal is continuity. Continuing what is working well, while making thoughtful, incremental improvements where they are needed," said Chair Myers. "I believe strongly that stability and professionalism are strengths of this institution, especially at a time when utility issues are becoming more complex and more consequential."

"It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as the Chair of this organization for the past year," said Commissioner Kevin Thompson. "I sincerely thank our staff for their dedication to our agency's mission and everything they do to keep the Commission running smoothly. I am extremely grateful for this group of Commissioners, and for their support, decorum, and eagerness to work to serve the people of Arizona. I look forward to another productive and successful year ahead with Chair Myers and Vice Chair Walden leading the helm."
