Idaho Power Customers Experienced Fewest Outages Ever in 2025

Idaho Power customers enjoyed record reliability in 2025, according to a key industry statistic. Customers experienced an average of 1.04 outages in 2025, the lowest rate in the utility's nearly 110-year history. The record-setting year comes as Idaho Power remains focused on strategic investments in the grid to keep the system safe, reliable, and affordable for more customers than ever.

"It's great to see these results, and it's even more impressive when you consider our prices are among the lowest in the nation," Vice President of Planning, Engineering, and Construction Mitch Colburn said. "We know any outage is an inconvenience at best, so our dedicated employees work tirelessly to reduce the number and duration of outages our customers go through. We're happy to see our efforts translating into improved reliability for them."

Idaho Power set the reliability record despite the kind of summer heat that can test utilities' ability to meet customer needs. The company's ongoing investments in safety and reliability play a key role. To make customers' power safer and more reliable, Idaho Power inspects the company's equipment and performs proactive maintenance and targeted upgrades. Its crews and contractors trim trees away from powerlines and replace equipment when needed. In some cases, the company buries sections of overhead lines.

"These investments are making a real difference for our customers," Colburn said. "Many of the reliability upgrades we make also help reduce wildfire risk and keep our communities safe."
