LAS 35780 Totatlanika Energy LLC Land Use Permit Application for Healy Ferry Research

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Totatlanika Energy LLC

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35780

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The proposed area is located near Healy and Ferry, ranging from approximately milepost 272 to milepost 245, east of the Parks Highway.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Division of Mining, Land & Water (DMLW) received a Land Use Permit (LUP) application from Totatlanika Energy LLC for the collection of geological/geophysical data near Healy and Ferry at 432 points. Totatlanika Energy LLC proposes to collect data through sensor deployment (such as seismic sensors, magnetotelluric stations, GPS instruments, airborne sensors), and surface/subsurface studies (such as geological exploration, soil and rock collections, geotechnical boring, test pits, and geological mapping). All sensors would be deployed for up to 60 days at a maximum depth of 8 inches. Sample collection would be under 2 kilograms per point, and subsurface study would be up to 6 feet deep. While the entire proposed research area is outlined in the application, any subsequent permit would only authorize use on state-owned DMLW-managed land. All equipment would be removed at the end of the monitoring program.
