At approximately 1:09 p.m., officers responded to a report of a bomb threat in the 400 block of Conley Road.
Initial information indicated pipe bombs had been planted inside of a business. Upon arrival, officers contacted management and coordinated an orderly evacuation while assisting customers and employees as they exited. A controlled evacuation of vehicles in the parking lot was also conducted. City of Columbia buses were requested to provide a temporary shelter for employees during the investigation.
A Columbia Police Department K-9 explosives dog and bomb technician searched the building and found no explosives. No additional threats were reported or observed. The property was cleared about 3:30 p.m., and officers escorted staff back inside.
We would like to thank the Ashland Police Department for their assistance with crowd and traffic control.
