Throughout this Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa's 99 counties.
RED OAK, Iowa - U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced Natural Fertilizer of Harrison County as her small business of the week. Throughout the 119th Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in each of Iowa's 99 counties.
"Abe Sandquist is a grow getter when it comes to operating a small business," said Chair Ernst. "Over the course of 20 years, Natural Fertilizer has bloomed into a thriving business that has cultivated over 1,000 relationships with partners and farmers across the Midwestern region."
Abe Sandquist developed the idea of Natural Fertilizer after spending several years developing nutrient management plans for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. During his time there, Abe's work revealed that many agricultural producers did not realize the value of organic nutrients until they received professional guidance on how to effectively use them. Seeing this need, Abe established Natural Fertilizer in 2007, providing consulting services focused on nutrient management.
Since then, Natural Fertilizer has transformed into a full-service operation focusing on the nutrient cycle of organic residuals. Beyond building his business, Abe has remained committed to serving his local community. Abe helped launch Woodbine Iowa's IGNITE Pathways Program and remains an active member of the Iowa Composting Council, where he continues to bring members of the agricultural industry together through nutrient cycle advocacy.
Stay tuned as Chair Ernst continues to recognize outstanding Iowa small businesses with her Small Business of the Week award.
