MoDOT shifts traffic on SB I-270 near I-64 starting Friday

ST. LOUIS - Drivers who use southbound Interstate 270 near Interstate 64 should be aware of new traffic patterns and some earlier exit lanes, starting next week.

Weather permitting, crews will close lanes on southbound I-270 to shift the closed lane from the outside lane to the inside lane. As a part of that shift, crews will move the start of the exit lanes closer to the ramp exiting from Ladue Road.

Crews will close a single lane on southbound I-270 near I-64 Friday, July 25 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The following week, Monday, July 28 through Thursday, July 31, drivers can expect either up to two right lanes or up to two left lanes closed southbound near I-64 each night between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

When the southbound traffic shift is complete, drivers will have the far-left lane (nearest the middle of the highway) closed and traffic shifted to the right. Drivers on southbound I-270 will continue to have three through southbound lanes during all peak hours. Drivers exiting for I-64 will use the two far right lanes, but the start of those exit lanes moves closer to Ladue Road.

Weather permitting, crews will make a similar shift on the northbound lanes the following week. Specifics on that work are still being determined and will be shared as soon as they are available.

The work is part of the on-going project to replace the I-270 bridge over Conway Road and the widening of the I-270 bridge over Ladue Road. For more on the project, visit: https://www.modot.org/projects/interstate-270-bridge-replacement-conway-road-st-louis.
