The EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) represents the most wide-ranging legislation on cybersecurity ever applied to products with digital elements, encompassing agricultural vehicles, machinery, and embedded systems. Its requirements will have a substantial impact on the design, hardware and software architecture of future agricultural equipment as of December 2027.
With such a significant regulatory shift ahead, and in the absence of an official guidance document from the European Commission, CEMA has prepared the "CEMA Implementation Guidance on the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA 2024/2847)". This document provides a comprehensive interpretation of the CRA from the perspective of the agricultural machinery sector.
The guidance aims to:
• Support manufacturers in the early stages of CRA preparation and self-assessments
• Promote consistent implementation across the sector
• Assist in shaping CEMA positions in external discussions
• Contribute to forthcoming European and international standardisation work
By offering practical explanations and sector-specific considerations, the guidance supports manufacturers in navigating the new obligations and preparing their product portfolios for the upcoming compliance requirements.
This document is a practical tool: it assists members in meeting CRA obligations but does not replace the responsibility of manufacturers to comply with the law.
