The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met today with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, in the margins of the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the implementation status of the Italy-Canada action plan for enhanced cooperation, with a particular focus on the sectors of technological innovation, security, and defence.
During the discussion, the two leaders reiterated their full alignment regarding G7 priorities, starting with the resilience of critical mineral supply chains and the fight against migrant trafficking, on which they agreed to remain in close contact ahead of the Evian Summit.
Lastly, President Meloni and Prime Minister Carney had an in-depth discussion on the main issues on the international agenda, reaffirming their shared commitment to a just peace in Ukraine and agreeing on the urgency of a solution for the necessary stability in the Gulf and the protection of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
