Landsman on Iran: “It’s time to be done”

Cincinnati, OH - Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) released the following statement on the current state of the operation in Iran:

It's time to finish the operation in Iran. It's time to be done.

No expansion of the original operation. No ground troops.

The fact is, in three weeks, we have destroyed nearly all of the regime's missile and drone launch capacity and eliminated their ability, for now, to produce ballistic missiles and drones. This means, the objective to destroy the weapons shield built to protect their underground nuclear enrichment facilities has been achieved.

We did this to stop a religiously fanatic regime with an apocalyptic worldview from getting a nuclear weapon, killing their own citizens, and causing chaos and bloodshed throughout the region.

For most of my life, the regime and Iran have been a national security threat. The amount of enriched uranium for a nuclear bomb, which they brag about having, is arguably the most serious national and global security threat of our time.

Most, if not all nations with nuclear weapons, are unlikely to use them. The regime in Iran would. This is the catastrophic nightmare we are trying to avoid.

The cost of inaction was far too high to tolerate. But now it's time to be done.

As I said three weeks ago, I trust our military planners and generals to execute on these goals. They have done so, and now it is time for the administration to end the operation before we become entangled in a conflict with no strategic logic.

Where Trump and Hegseth have failed, our uniformed servicemembers have succeeded. While the Administration failed to communicate and prepare the country for this operation, General Kaine and Admiral Cooper have demonstrated extraordinary leadership, and I appreciate them and every one of the sailors, soldiers, and airmen - especially those that gave their lives fighting against this incredibly dangerous regime.

Our War Powers Resolution will be ready for a vote soon.

I will vote for Congressman Meeks' War Powers Resolution if it comes to the floor. I urge every one of my colleagues to vote Yes. The United States Armed Forces have accomplished remarkable tactical and strategic successes.

It's now time to be done.
