Washington, D.C.-- Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) voted in favor of H.R. 30, the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, which passed the House by a vote of 274-145. H.R. 30 would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to make illegal immigrants who admit to or are convicted of sex offenses or domestic violence inadmissible and deportable from the United States.
"The Biden-Harris administration's border crisis has jeopardized the safety of our women and children," said Rep. Walberg. "As of July 2024, there were over 650,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions or pending criminal charges on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) non-detained docket, meaning many criminal aliens are free to roam our communities. The Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act would remove any loopholes in current law, ensuring that illegal immigrants who commit heinous crimes against our women and children are deported."
Congressman Walberg represents Michigan's 5th Congressional District which includes the counties of Branch, Cass, Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Monroe, St. Joseph, and parts of Berrien, Calhoun, and Kalamazoo.
