Tempe, AZ - Some of the most important moments in policing never make the news. Starting next week, viewers will get a closer look at the work happening in Tempe every day.
The Tempe Police Department will appear on the nationally-televised documentary series, On Patrol: Live beginning Friday, May 29. The show documents police work in real time as officers respond to everyday calls and conduct patrol operations.
Hosted by Dan Abrams, On Patrol: Live airs Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9 p.m. MST on REELZ and is among the top-rated programs in its time slot on cable. It features a diverse mix of law enforcement agencies from around the country, ranging from small town sheriff's offices to large metropolitan police departments.
"People often see police work through headlines or brief moments in a crisis. On Patrol: Live allows us to share a broader picture of our officers, our values, and the many ways we serve and connect with the community," said Tempe Police Chief Ken McCoy.
The department explains that participation provides an opportunity to give the public a closer look at the day-to-day realities of policing and the people behind the badge while supporting transparency and community engagement.
