JEFFERSON COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will host a ribbon cutting ceremony with KCI Construction and Bartlett & West to mark the celebratory opening of the new U.S. Route 67/Route CC interchange .
The ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 10 a.m . in the northeast corner of the interchange on the currently closed US 67 outer road. This event will be live streamed on social media and available online.
" This ribbon-cutting event commemorates the transformation of the former signalized intersection at US 67/Route CC into a new and improved grade-separated interchange reducing congestion and increasing safety. This interchange improvement marks the completion of the southern portion of the Interstate 55 Corridor Improvements Project in Jefferson County. " said I-55 Project Director Justin Wolf.
The $246 million project area includes the cities of Pevely, Herculaneum, Festus, and Crystal City. The purpose of this project is to maximize reliability and safety on Interstate 55 and U.S. Route 67.
"This represents both a major project achievement and a meaningful transportation improvement for the region. The previous intersection created delays and limited traffic flow, particularly for southbound travelers. The new interchange addresses those issues and provides a more efficient connection for motorists," said MoDOT Area Liaison Jordan Dalaviras.
The remaining portion of the project is scheduled to be completed in late spring 2027. To learn more information about the project and sign up for project updates, visit the Interstate 55 Corridor Improvements Project website at www.modot.org/interstate-55-corridor-upgrades-jefferson .
