OED seeks program management organization for U District BIA

Seattle's University District is a vibrant area full of opportunity. Anchored by the University of Washington, the neighborhood is home to long-standing businesses, innovative ventures, and cultural spaces. Through the Request for Proposals process, we're looking for an experienced and visionary organization to serve as the program manager for the University District Business Improvement Area. Proposals are due Friday, January 31, 2025, at 5 p.m. PST.

The selected organization will help guide the district's growth, strengthen local businesses, and create an inclusive, thriving neighborhood. The program manager will oversee daily operations, manage budgets, and coordinate programs that address the needs of the U District. Key responsibilities include delivering initiatives focused on public safety, events, marketing, and economic development.

The ideal organization will have:

  • At least five years of experience managing complex programs and budgets.
  • Success in building partnerships with businesses, community organizations, and residents.
  • A history of developing strategic plans and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Expertise in advancing equity and reducing barriers for underserved communities.
  • Familiarity with business improvement areas or similar community-driven initiatives.

Proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. PST on Friday, January 31, 2025. Submit your proposal here.

As mandated by Ordinance 126093, Council Bill 119779, our office is required to conduct a competitive process every five years to select a Program Manager for Business Improvement Areas. This ensures accountability, transparency, and alignment with the community's evolving needs.
