Ohio Wesleyan Selects Twelve Students for Competitive Business and Entrepreneurial Program

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship at Ohio Wesleyan University has selected 12 students for admittance into its fall class of Corns Business and Entrepreneurial Scholars.

The competitive program is open to sophomores who have demonstrated strong academic performance, leadership in campus or community service organizations, and potential for achievement in business or entrepreneurship.

Ohio Wesleyan's 2026-2027 Corns Scholars are:

  • Bilal Ahmad of Lahore, Pakistan. Ahmad is an Accounting and Finance major.
  • Caroline Alvarez of Columbus, Ohio. Alvarez is a Business Administration: Marketing major.
  • Lela Funk of Jeromesville, Ohio. Funk is an Economics and Pre-Law major and an Entrepreneurship minor.
  • Lexie Greer of Venedocia, Ohio. Greer is a Finance and Chemistry major.
  • Jackie Harper of Henderson, Nevada. Harper is a Finance major and a Business and Health & Human Kinetics: Exercise Science minor.
  • Kaanan Holtzlander of Lewis Center, Ohio. Holtzlander plans to major in Finance and Quantitative Economics.
  • Jera Hoy of Radnor, Ohio. Hoy is an Accounting major and an Entrepreneurship minor.
  • Kristin Humbert of Kensington, Maryland. Humbert is an Accounting and Business Administration: Management major.
  • Nagomi Katano of Nagoya-Shi, Japan. Katano is an Accounting and Quantitative Economics major.
  • Husain Qazilbash of Lahore, Pakistan. Qazilbash is a Business Administration: Marketing major and an Entrepreneurship minor.
  • Kirsten Quinn of Ostrander, Ohio. Quinn plans to major in Quantitative Economics.
  • Shane Slack of Lewis Center, Ohio. Slack is a Business Administration: Management major and an Economics minor.

Corns Scholars receive $5,000 scholarships during both their junior and senior years. The program is designed to help the students "combine classroom knowledge with the spontaneity of daily business applications and challenges, putting them a step ahead in the business world with future employers."

As Corns Scholars, the Ohio Wesleyan students also:

  • Take specific courses designed to develop business and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Complete internships that link economic and business theory with real-world practices.
  • Interact with business leaders.
  • Compete in business plan competitions.
  • Learn from faculty who are experienced entrepreneurs.

The Corns Business and Entrepreneurial Scholars program is named in memory of former Roadway Express President Richard W. Corns and funded through a $1 million endowment from the Akron, Ohio-based GAR Foundation.
