Subject to AS 35.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Northern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (NSRAA)

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35978

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:

State-owned tide and submerged land in Keku Straits adjacent to Kuiu Island, approximately 7.5 miles southwest of Kake at 56.8938°N, 134.0820°W.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

Approximately 15 acres of state-owned tide and submerged land in SE1/4 SW1/4 Section 28, Township 57 South, Range 72 East, Copper River Meridian

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:

NSRAA (applicant) is requesting a five-year Land Use Permit for the year-round moorage of commercial-use salmon-rearing net pen array and the seasonal (January 1 - June 30) moorage of an associated caretaker barge. The net pens (22 pens, each 40 feet by 40 feet, configured in two ladders of nine and one ladder of four for a total of 35,200 square feet) and the barge (40 feet by 80 feet, totaling 3,200 square feet) would be secured to the tide and submerged land with three 2,000-pound Danforth anchors and eight rock bolts placed below mean high water (MHW).

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:

Start: May 21, 2026

End: May 20, 2031

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: May 18, 2026

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a discussion is made on this activity.
