House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Sees Influx of New Members

A new cohort of members is joining the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee for the 119th Congress. Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) has welcomed 12 new Republican members to the committee, with one vacancy to be filled later.

The new Republican members are:

Rep. Tony Wied (R-WI)

Rep. Tom Barrett (R-MI)

Rep. Nick Begich (R-AK)

Rep. Rob Bresnahan (R-PA)

Rep. Jeff Hurd (R-CO)

Rep. Jefferson Shreve (R-IN)

Rep. Addison McDowell (R-NC)

Rep. Dave Taylor (R-OH)

Rep. Brad Knott (R-NC)

Rep. Kim King-Hinds (R-MP)

Rep. Mike Kennedy (R-UT)

Rep. Bob Onder (R-MO)

They will be joining 22 returning Republican members to the panel. Chairman Graves emphasized the committee's pivotal role, stating, "Members of Congress seek out a seat on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee because the work we do has real and meaningful impacts on the daily lives of Americans… and we look forward to working with our colleagues in the Senate and President Trump to improve our infrastructure, the flow of commerce, and the ability of our constituents to get from one place to another quickly and safely."

In addition to the new Republican members, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries has announced the appointment of several new Democratic members to the committee. These appointments include:

As the 119th Congress progresses, the T&I Committee's work will be instrumental in shaping the future of America's infrastructure, including reauthorization of expiring surface transportation programs under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

The committee hosts its organizational meeting and kickoff hearing on Wednesday, January 15.
