Various Closures on Interstate 5 & State Routes 4, 33, And 99

Stanislaus County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5, State Route 4 (SR-4) and SR-99 for maintenance and construction work within Stanislaus County next week. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

State Route 4

State Route 33

  • Overnight, one-way traffic control between Fourth Street and Sperry Avenue for construction work beginning Sunday, August 16, through Friday, August 21, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  • Overnight, one-way traffic control between M Street and Eucalyptus Avenue for construction work beginning Sunday, August 16, through Friday, August 21, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

State Route 99

  • Moving, alternating lane closures in both directions between the Merced County line and Service Road for a sweeping operation beginning Monday, August 17, through Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Interstate 5

  • Long-term, full closures of the northbound and southbound Westley Safety Roadside Rest Areas and the auxiliary lane leading to the southbound rest area exit for construction work.
  • Note: This project is expected to continue through summer 2026.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
