From flat in spring to double by late summer
The 26-week window opened level with last year. The weeks of March 30 and April 6 were within 3% of their prior-year volumes, and the weeks of May 11 and May 18 came in below them, at 5.6% and 16.0% under.
From the week of May 25 onward, every week ran above its 2025 equivalent. Across the first 13 weeks of the window, bookings were up 21.8% year over year. Across the second 13 weeks, they were up 85.0%.
Part of that widening comes from the shape of last year's curve. In 2025, weekly bookings through Long Beach peaked in May at 60,755 TEU and settled into a range of roughly 29,000 to 34,000 TEU a week through August and September. In 2026, weekly bookings kept building through the same stretch, from 56,683 TEU in the week of August 3 to 71,263 TEU in the week of September 14, the highest week in the 26-week window.

What bookings tell you, and what they don't yet
These figures measure booked volume through Long Beach, captured as shippers commit space, which puts them ahead of vessel arrivals and terminal throughput. That lead time is the value: a change in booking behavior shows up in TradeView weeks before it shows up in port statistics.
The next questions are where this volume is coming from and who is booking it. Origin, carrier, and shipper-level detail on Long Beach bookings sits inside TradeView, along with the same weekly view for every other major U.S. gateway, so you can see whether this pattern is specific to Long Beach or showing up across the West Coast.
