During the 39th Annual Psychology Department Reception at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven on April 22, Dr. Scott Carnicom inducted 18 psychology majors and minors into Psi Chi, the International Honor Society for Psychology.
This year's inductees were: Madeline O'Neil, of Bloomsburg; Alyssa Weigle, of Muncy; Jaelyn Bradley, of Jonestown; Faith Persing, of Montgomery; Abagail Butler, of Blanchard; Madison Tolomay, of Williamsport; Carnicom; Riley Wharton, of Irvona; Salma Villamorales, of Henderson, New Jersey; Madelyn Crawford-Randow, of Altoona; Payton McCully, of Coalport; Emmett O'Neill, of Williamsport; Tyler Clawson, of Lewisberry; Aaron Eldred, of Dallas, Pennsylvania; Adia Grinnell, of Coudersport; Kaylee Hart, of Aaronsburg; Evie Rembold, of Lock Haven; Jace Szaflarski, of Greencastle; and Allison Weaver, of Sunderland, Maryland.
Also, during the reception, six psychology majors received departmental awards.
Newcomer Award: Awarded to sophomore students who are expected to make great contributions to the department going forward. Award winners were Taylor Hall, of Snow Shoe and Paige Mittelbrunn, of Philipsburg.
Achievement Awards: Earned by students with general high achievement in terms of classroom and out-of-class performance. Award winners were Emmett O'Neill, of Williamsport; Rose Jeffes, of Hatboro; and Paige Watson, of Hanover.
Student of the Year: Earned by a student who has exceeded expectations in all areas - classroom, research, internship, and general citizenship - of the major. Award winner was Kaitlyn McGonigal, of Clearfield.
