U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Recognizes Dollar General Literacy Foundation and Save the Children with 2025 Corporate Citizenship Award

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) and Save the Children were recently awarded a 2025 Corporate Citizenship Award in the Best Education and Workforce category by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation for the organizations' partnership in the "Closing the Gap" initiative to transform early childhood education and well-being in rural America.

"We are honored to be recognized for our partnership with Save the Children, which helps address urgent and complex challenges affecting rural childhood education and well-being across the United States," shared Denine Torr, executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. "Together, we are fostering resilient rural ecosystems and building strong foundations that respond directly to the needs of rural children and families. Thank you to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation for celebrating our efforts with this prestigious award."

With $10.3 million invested since 2018, the partnership has reached nearly one million children annually, supporting kindergarten readiness, literacy and math proficiency, workforce development, and food security. Save the Children's Rural Child Well-Being Dashboards provide localized insights on child poverty, education, and childcare access, shaping programs in more than 250 communities across 14 states. This strategic collaboration is building resilient communities, helping underserved children thrive as learners and in life.

"We're deeply grateful for our partnership with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and excited to share in this recognition. It's a testament to what's possible when we come together across sectors to build lasting change for children and entire communities. We look forward to building on this momentum-bringing quality education and care to more kids and families in rural America," said Clare Rodger, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer of Save the Children US.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Corporate Citizenship Awards ("Citizens Awards") highlight how businesses serve as a force for good, expanding opportunity and driving progress in every aspect of society. For more than 25 years, the program has recognized the most innovative and impactful corporate citizenship initiatives that leverage a company's talent, resources, and expertise to improve communities.
