Sacramento - Caltrans' work on the U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement "Fix50" Project continues with a 55-hour closure at the northbound State Route 51/Capitol City Freeway (SR-51) connector from westbound US 50 scheduled from Friday, January 17 at 10 p.m. through Monday, January 20 at 5 a.m.

This extended closure is necessary to resolve the significant amount of work for drainage systems installation which need to be in place before reconstructing the structural section of the connector.

Suggested Detour

  • Westbound US50 motorists will be detoured to the 26th Street off-ramp, along W Street to southbound 15th Street, and back on to eastbound US 50 at the 16th Street on-ramp.

The ongoing work is part of a $529 million project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US50/Interstate 5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.

Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.
