Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of Spokane native and baseball Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg. Sandberg, a former standout at North Central High School, passed away Monday.

"Ryne was a hometown hero whose impact reached far beyond Spokane. He left a lasting mark on baseball and all those who knew him. The City of Spokane sends its deepest sympathies to his family," Mayor Brown said.

Flags will remain lowered through Thursday morning. The City of Spokane encourages anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join us in this recognition.
